| Ok, ok, I finally did an entry... here's Matthew's b-day party
April 12, 2006
Last year, for Matthew's 3rd b-day party, we did "Dora, the Explorer" (he loved Dora at that time). We had a map that led us "to the tree, through the cave, and to the great big pinata". This year, Matthew got into "Go, Diego, Go", a new show by Nick Jr. Diego is Dora's cousin and he's an animal rescuer. Most of the animals he rescues are in the forest, thus the foresty decorations. The children were lured into the forest with Diego's theme song playing and all were given Spectacle bear masks.
We made "spotting scopes" to help us find the animals in the scavenger hunt. Before that, the children had a brief lesson on several animals using Diego's field journal. During the scavenger hunt, the kids looked for animal figurines and stickers in the jungle. Then we played "pin the tail on the donkey" and ate. The kids burned off their calories with "freeze dance" and wapping the pinata. But they put it back on again after making and decorating their own cookies and eating them. Here are some pictures.
